National Adoption Day!

National Adoption Day!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to be thankful for what we have and turn our attention to how we can help those who have far less than us. With tomorrow being National Adoption Day, we feel it’s the perfect time to bring some awareness to the plight of the 113,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care across the United States.

Most children wait more than three years to find an adoptive family, if they get adopted at all. This is just one of many heartbreaking statistics that can be named about today’s foster children. While not everyone can adopt, we can all help spread awareness and support the many organizations that help facilitate adoption across the country!

Here’s some ideas of ways you can help:

  1. Attend Events in your Community

Get involved in your community by volunteering at local adoption events. Offer your time and skills to help organize fundraisers, awareness campaigns, or adoption fairs. By actively participating, you can make a difference in the lives of children waiting to find their forever homes.

  1. Volunteer with an Adoption Organization

Research and support local foster care organizations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of children in foster care. Donate your time, money, or resources to help these organizations provide essential services, such as counseling, education, and mentorship programs.

  1. Advocate for Adoption-Friendly Policies

Get involved in advocacy efforts to promote adoption-friendly policies in your community. Contact your local representatives and voice your support for legislation that streamlines the adoption process, provides financial assistance to adoptive families, and improves the overall well-being of children in foster care.

  1. Share Information

Take the opportunity to educate others about adoption and dispel common myths and misconceptions. Share informative articles, videos, podcasts, or personal experiences to help people understand the importance of adoption and the positive impact it can have on a child's life.

  1. Be a Voice for Children in Foster Care

Use your voice to advocate for the needs and rights of children in foster care. Attend community meetings, write letters to the editor, or participate in awareness campaigns to raise public consciousness about the challenges faced by children in the foster care system. Or take it a step further and volunteer to be a child’s impartial advocate in the court system.

So, on this National Adoption Day, let's come together as a community to spread awareness, celebrate the power of adoption, and make a lasting impact on the lives of children in foster care. Remember, every child deserves a loving and permanent home.

Omg! I’m just seeing this for the first time but I love it so much. As a mom of two adoptees all the support we can get in normalizing adoption is amazing. Plus my girls look adorable in your clothes.

Thank you for acknowledging the need for foster care. We have three adopted grown children and fostered baby’s for years until placement. We need to have more families licensed to help these precious children in need .

Oh I love this! My princess is adopted. She’s literally my joy, I love that I’m buying from a business that brings light to this. I’m still a foster mama, these kiddos need people who care!

So, so happy you guys are reminding everyone to spread the love through adoption. So many times I see commercials on the importance of adopting animals, but there are so many children who need homes. Thank you for sharing and encouraging adoption! Our girls are both adopted and they have not only changed our world for the better, but every person they come in contact with! God bless you for all that you are doing to make others aware of those precious souls who need a home!
