Baking Time!

With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to don our aprons and get to cooking. If you’re like us you likely have a sweet tooth around the holidays too and what better time to bake till your heart’s content than when you can share all the goodies with your family and friends.

So in honor of the holidays and that sweet tooth we just can’t shake, we’ve asked our lovely SweetHoney team to vote for their Favorite Holiday Recipe & this was the winner!

The Brownies of Yore



  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ¾ tsp salt


  • 2 tbs chocolate syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • 2 tbs water or milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • Optional
    • ½ cup nuts/choc. Chips
    • 1 tbs cake flour
    • 1 tsp bitters


  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lightly spray an 8x8 baking dish with cooking spray if non-stick.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, any optional ingredients, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, olive oil, water, and vanilla.
  4. Combine dry into wet.
  5. Pour the batter into the pan (it'll be thick). Bake for 40 - 48 minutes, or until a wood toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing, interior will be gooey. Stores up to 3 days.
