It’s hard to believe that summer vacation will soon be coming to an end! With Back-to-School time quickly approaching, one might think that outdoor playtime is beginning to wind down, but here in the south it’s really just beginning! With Fall in mind, we decided to leave the water games to the Awesome Summer Water Activities for Kids blog post we made a couple weeks ago. This week we are focusing mainly on things that will continue to be fun well into Autumn!
Sandbox with Cover and Built-in Shade
If your children love to build sandcastles and unbury hidden treasures, then we have just the thing for you! Cornhole
The next few things on the list are perfect for some outdoor family game nights! Cornhole is one of those long-time favorites that is perfect for almost any occasion! And, with some rule alterations it can be a fun game for the whole family. If you have little ones who can’t throw the bag far enough, you can either move the boards closer together or mark a spot that is within their range for them to toss the bag from. This way everyone can play!
Backyard Bocce Set
This game may be from the 18th century, but you can’t go wrong with Bocce Ball! Like cornhole, this outdoor game has you divide up into two teams and toss things at a target. Each team gets 4 balls and you flip a coin to see which team gets to throw the smaller white ball or jack first. You then take turns tossing your balls as close as possible to the jack. You can also knock away your opponent’s balls or the jack.
After all the balls are thrown, measure using the tool included in the set to see who has the closest ball. The team with a ball closest to the jack wins a point. The first team to earn 12 points wins the game!
Matty's Toy Stop Toss & Catch Set
If you want something a little less competitive and more playful, check out this set that is perfect for anyone three and up to play catch!
